Research Activities
Goal
Systems level integration of hybrid microsensors designed for high temperatures environments.
Approach
- Design novel heterogeneous micromechanical joints and alignment features that maintain precision and integrity at extremely high temperatures and during thermal cycling.
- Derive material set and precision targets from system performance specifications.
- Robotic assembly of microscale components to realize desired complexity and precision.

About JPL – Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA
Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is a federally funded research and development center and NASA field center located in Pasadena, California. JPL is managed by California Institute of Technology (Caltech) for NASA. The Laboratory’s primary function is the construction and operation of robotic planetary spacecraft.
About Nano and Micro Systems group
ContactThe Nano and Micro Systems group at JPL focuses on developing miniature smart systems using nano and micro components that can operate in harsh or extreme environments continuously, unobtrusively, and efficiently to deliver designed performance.
